The Equality Between Men and Women

It is of the upmost importance to note that in today's American culture men and women are not equal. Women still recieve three quarters of the amount of money as men do in the same position. Not only this, but there is a huge amount of sexism, a sort of racism between the sexes, in modern American culture. This not only applies to men but also women, this country is full of men who feel superior to women and women who feel superior to men. Among some of these beliefs of superiority are some of the perversions of sexism are possibly associated with prostitution and other degrating acts of sex, which again plagues both men and women. Women and men are clearly still unequal in this country.

Sacrifices of A New Depression

It is scary to think of what a new depression would be like. One can only imagine the lifestyle they might be forced to lead, the sacrifices they must make. In the instance that today's recession may become so intense that it may be considered a second "depression", people would be forced to sacrifice what little luxuries they might have and give everything up so that they might survive. People would have to leave their homes and sell all of their belongings to get the money to eat. Children and teenagers would have to quit school to try and find a job to support their families- albeit illegally. Along with that would come a large increase in crime, robbery, murder, prostitution, drug dealing. When money becomes unavailable the country would go into turmoil, with no possible signs of assistance from the government. People would be forced to give up everything just so that they might survive in this godforsaken wasteland.

The Simpson's Assignment- Prohibition

You would expect that a Simpson's episode on Prohibition would be entirely fictional and comedic. This episode, however, displays a variety of accurate occurances that tend to outweigh the funny aspects. Some of these accurate parts include the display of violence that is rooted from the consumption of alcohol, the creation of unsatisfying non-alcoholic beverages, prostitution, speakises, bribery, bootlegging, and a staggering increase in crime. Some of the inaccurate events include the duck law, the hollow bowling ball, the exploding stills, the catapult punishment, and the utter gullibillity and obliviousness of the police officer. Based on all of these things, the accuracy is surprising and deserves more observation than the mere humor in the episode. I really enjoyed this episode, very funny episode and a very fun class as a result. Some things like the prostitution and the huge influence of alcohol at home, in public, and in the great number of bars seem to parallel the 1920s.

I feel as though Black culture should have been included to make the episode very accurate, or at least some jazz music or something. My idea for a scene is a big party in a speakise with a jazz band with all black members performing on stage.

Should true Americans have to give up personal freedoms during a time of war?

In the case of a true American it is in no way right to give up freedoms during any time, in fact, any one American who would give up his or her rights as a true american is not an American, but rather a traitor to his own self and to his country. The only reason any one man is truly an American is because he has these rights and it is safe to say that any man who gives up this freedoms is not only a traitor to himself but also a traitor to his fellow countrymen. There is never an opportunity, no there is no good reason to give up any freedoms- especially not to those who are supposed to give and enforce those freedoms. It is one man's most important duty to assert these freedoms and make certain that these freedoms are not stolen from him for if one does not assert his freedom it implies that one never deserved freedoms in the first place. Furthermore, it is never appropriate to give up the freedoms of a true American, not even during a war which seems to be larger than any other war ever fought.

BLOODBATH IN CUBA!!

SEVERAL INNOCENT AMERICAN LANDOWNERS IN CUBA TORTURED AND KILLED AT THE HANDS OF BUTCHER AND HIS MEN.

General Butcher Weyler ordered his men to hunt down and torture several American landowners of sugar plantations in Cuba Tuesday afternoon. Weyler reportedly gave the order to his most trustworthy "knives" to brutally torture and eventually kill these poor, innocent Americans in "the utter most painful ways they could think for the longest possible time before they die". Spanish soldiers watched joyfully as the helpless, innocent American landowners were surrounded and killed slowly and painfully, laughing as they burned the American flags that were hanging at the plantation. Accordinng to inside sources, Butcher plans not only to kill all of the Cubans but to also brutally murder any innocent, defenseless, American that he could find on the Island of Cuba.
